Shaped By The Seasons
At North Widcombe Farm, the wellbeing of our herd begins with the land beneath their feet. Whenever conditions allow, our cows graze freely across the Somerset pastures that surround the estate, building their diet around fresh grass and seasonal forage.
As the weather changes and the ground becomes too wet through the winter months, the herd is brought indoors for comfort and care. During this time, they are fed silage cut from the very same fields they graze throughout the year, ensuring their diet remains closely connected to the land.
This pasture-led approach allows us to farm with the seasons rather than against them. The result is milk that reflects the character of the countryside around us — rich, consistent and shaped by the landscape we have cared for across generations.

Why Unhomogenised?
Most milk found on supermarket shelves is homogenised. During this process, the cream is broken down into tiny particles and permanently dispersed throughout the milk to create a uniform appearance.
We choose not to homogenise. By leaving the cream intact, it naturally rises to the top of the bottle just as it traditionally would, creating the rich layer of cream that is characteristic of unhomogenised milk.
This gentle approach preserves the texture, flavour and natural character of the milk, resulting in a fuller mouthfeel and a product that remains closer to its original state. Simply give it a shake before pouring and enjoy dairy as nature intended.
